The Outer Harbor concert series has proven to be over the top successful. The only problem is access to the Outer Harbor. While that issue could be solved by replacing the South Michigan Draw Bridge (see why) that was wrecked when a freighter hit it, there is another way to get to and from the Outer Harbor shows, and that is via water taxi!
Brawler’s Deli and Pearl Street Grill and Brewery have worked out an arrangement with the Queen City Ferry to ensure that concert-goers not only have a place to eat and drink before and after each concert, the primary goal is to get them safely to and from their destination.
Ferry tickets can be purchased at Brawler’s for $15 (roundtrip) at any time. The establishments (Pearl Street and Brawler’s) also serve up a one-time two-for-one drink special for anyone who shows a ticket stub before or after the show. “We’re here to make it easier to enjoy the waterfront and the Outer Harbor concerts,” said Earl Ketry, owner of Brawler’s and Pearl Street. “From our building it’s a short walk to the water taxi. People can look forward to a quick, scenic and hassle-free shuttle to the Outer Harbor and back again. We sweetened the pot by offering the drink special – buy a round and you’ve essentially saved some money to balance out the cost of the ferry ticket.”
Taxi’s leave from Canalside to the Outer Harbor every half hour from 5-8pm.
Return visits anytime – the last shuttle back to the Inner Harbor leaves an hour after the show.
Tonight’s ferry trip schedule is already sold out at 250 tickets! – Queen City Ferry is hoping to add more water taxis to the line-up next year.
