A new permanent sculpture is underway at the Albright-Knox. Artist Jason Middlebrook from Hudson, NY has been building the piece called Underlife offsite, and is now installing the sculpture on the east side of the gallery facing the lake. According to the artist, the sculpture is a dedication to the Olmsted Parks and the trees that reside in the park system. The colorful splash of mosaic roots, with an organic-looking stump, is a real eye-catcher and changes day by day (depending on sun and clouds) and with the seasons (with snow accumulation or fallen leaves).
