This Monday “green” advocates and organizations are gathering at The Wharf at Canalside (1pm) at the behest of New York State Senator Tim Kennedy and several waterfront tourism operators to highlight the need for additional measures to be taken in response to President Barack Obama’s historic action on climate change. According to Kennedy’s office, “industrial carbon pollution was just measured at the highest levels in human history.”
Each city and state must do their parts to address climate change. Monday’s green rally and press event is meant to shine a light on the adverse effects that changing climate conditions now pose. While each and every one of us should be concerned about all aspects of climate change, this particular group is pointing out the environmental and economic stresses that NY water sources are subjected to (Great Lakes and New York’s many inland waterways).
What will Buffalo and NYS be doing to address the issues? It’s time to get involved with local efforts to find solutions to these mounting adverse climate conditions.
*Interested individuals and groups are encouraged to come out and participate to show support for the “I Will Act” movement and national policy to address climate change.
