We all know that flower tours in Buffalo are hot this time of year. You can tour gardens by open-air bus, by foot or by bike. Up until now the focus of The National Garden Festival has been flowers, but things are about to change… for the better.
On Saturday August 3, 2013, a tour will be offered that will focus on the environment, and all of the ways that Buffalo is making city-living earth friendly. There will be a stop of the West Side aquaponics hoop house to see the tilapia being raised, and a visit to the roof of the Broadway Market is planned to check out the container gardens.
There’s a lot going on in Buffalo these days as far as sustainability is concerned. That may come in the form of building reuse, or a pop-up park. For $30 you can get an insider’s look into the underbelly of Buffalo’s environmentally forward thinking projects.
