Yotality has opened its doors on Elmwood, bringing with it a frozen yogurt-lover’s delicious dream come true (see back story). For one week now, the yogurt express shop has been churning out the numbers due to a steady stream of people filing into the place. No matter what the hour*, customers can be seen hanging around inside and on the patio eating the frozen yogurt delights.
It was the constant stream of Yotality containers passing me by while at The Peddler flea market earlier today, that got me thinking that I would stop on over and see what the buzz was all about. I’m not all that familiar with frozen yogurt, mainly because I try to stay away from sweets, but in this case I decided that I would take one for the team and dig right in.
First I grabbed my disposable bowl. Then I walked past all of the incredible yogurt offerings, before settling on sea salt caramel pretzel lever. After pulling the handle and letting some of the yogurt swirl into my cup, I headed over to one of the topping stations – a few gummy bears, and a small handful of chocolate covered pretzels later, I figure that there was room for one more ingredient before my concoction would start to look like a Jackson Pollock painting. The final ingredient? Boba tapioca pearls. I found those at the second topping bar. After sprinkling a spoonful of those on top, I headed to the counter to cash out.
The grand total for my yogurt medley was under $5, which I thought was pretty fair – the price of the treat is based according to weight. I was in and out in a flash – no fuss, no muss – and once again on the street heading back in the direction of the flea market with yogurt in hand.
After my first bite I realized what all of the excitement was about. The yogurt was delicious, rich and smooth and refreshing (almost like a soft serve ice cream, but more decadent). The toppings playfully added to the mouth watering experience. Yotality’s frozen yogurt is worth a visit, there is no doubt. I just hope that I can refrain from heading back too often.
As I look back, I remember hoping that I wouldn’t like the yogurt as much as I did, mainly because I don’t want to find myself starting to have cravings for the different flavors. But I figure that, in moderation, I will definitely head back to Yotality again, especially as the weather finally begins to heat up.
All in all, I think that this new business is a score for Elmwood and has increased the vitality on the street with its fun-in-the-sun business model. It’s a sweet treat for all ages, and will surely continue to draw in the masses with its quick and tasty yogurt offerings.
