Yotality

There’s a yogurt shop coming to Elmwood, and it’s called Yotality. Located in the former Chow Chocolat location, at 715 Elmwood Avenue, Yotality owners Gene and Suzy O’Donovan (founders of Montana Mills Bread Company) will be bringing a new twist in the frozen yogurt craze to the street. If you take a look at their website, you can see that the concept is fairly simple. Just grab a bowl of your favorite frozen yogurt, add the toppings, and then weigh, pay and enjoy. Kinda like a salad bar, but with frozen yogurt.
The story goes, that the owners were on a trip when their daughter was injured in a ski accident. Upon visiting the hospital, they went in search of a healthy treat and stumbled upon a frozen yogurt shop. The family was so taken with the concept, that they began their own company called Yotality, which is what we are seeing coming to Elmwood now.
To see what the family has in mind when it comes to the world of toppings, take a look at the flavorful options available with each purchase (see here). From red velvet cupcake to poma energy, the flavor combinations are plentiful. Welcome to the next Elmwood food craze – self serve yogurt designed to satisfy the individual size and taste palate.

Yeah, this trend is pretty late to Buffalo, Cleveland has had multiple chain and local self-serve yogurt places for years and even they were late to the trend. I think all we've really had were the two places out in Amherst.

But I'm still excited for this, no longer have to go out to Transit to get some yogurt!

Even Pittsburgh has many of these concepts. In Shady Side/Squirell Hill area alone (similar to Elmwood area) they have Razzy Fresh, Happy Berry, Tutti Frutti, and tons of others.

Or any city slightly larger or more modern than Buffalo or even YogenFruz in the Galleria

Or Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt (sweetfrogyogurt.com), which I frequented when I lived in Virginia this past summer. It's a great concept and very popular in these areas.

I love your ideas! Especially karate studio or dance studio. Look at what Bike-or-Bar has done for EV; bringing in people from outside Elmwood Village who then wander down for a post-workout pick-me-up. I've seen this myself - shocked to bump into a friend at Acropolis who lives out in Clarence and came all the way down just for her weekly workout at Bike-or-Bar.

I was shocked to discover that both Chow Chocolate and Dolci are turning into frozen yogurt shops. But I suppose it will all work itself out and another business will bite the dust in the next year or so. Best of luck to them both.

Here is what I don't get...I know that people who own buildings can do what ever they want but how about advising some of them that over saturation will lead to a short lived business....This cant work...FROZEN YOGURT, ICE Cream and gelato...Yotality, Fowlers, Whit rabbit, Gelatario Luca, and there is at least one more that I am missing....2

The old Dolci and the old Chow Chocolat spaces would be ideal for something new...Full Bakery, butcher, karate Studio, dance studio etc....I know this is scattered but just suggestions...

Good luck to all of the new frozen yogurt places, I didn't know that this was a hotbed market at the moment...

since catchy new neighborhood nicknames are popular at bro, i propose calling the blocks of elmwood from breckenridge to potomac the ice cream district.

it is an amusing exercise to name all of the places where you can get frozen desserts in any form: pints, cones, on a stick. who wants to try it? mobile vendors (bike or truck) don't count.

I'm not sure teeth "sweat"...

Sweat is a salty liquid that comes from the body's sweat glands.

"It began with an accident, a sweat tooth and a dream."

I hope a dentist can help with that.
