Starting next week, Tuesday May 28, Larkinville will be launching Food Truck Tuesdays (5-8pm). This is a great initiative being taken by district promoters – the food trucks are an important piece of the Buffalo summertime mix, and given the amazing grounds at Larkin Square, visitors will be able to grab some of their favorite foods, and then sit down and relax at myriad recreational spots. People will also have an opportunity to grab a beer or a wine to go with their food truck favorites. “We enjoy hosting Buffalo’s beloved food trucks in Larkinville, and it’ll be fun to have so many of them here together every Tuesday,” said Square 1 Sandwiches proprietor Harry Zemsky, who operates out of a converted 1964 Airstream trailer. “We’re ready to make Larkin Square a happy hour and dinner destination.”
Instead of shunning the food trucks, Larkinville has embraced the idea, knowing that the more options available to people, the more they will support a scene of this sort. The trucks bring a sense of urban zest, with lines of customers waiting for a chance to place their orders at their favorite truck windows (see Facebook for weekly truck line-ups). From there, it’s all about finding the perfect place to sit down and enjoy the food – that’s why this is so perfect for Larkinville. Besides the food trucks, people will also have a chance to enjoy all of the Larkin Square culinary mainstays, along with the Larkinville ice cream cart.
If only the shuffleboard courts were ready… it looks like those will come on-line mid-summer!
