Do you want to hear what community and business leaders think about the future of Buffalo? As a final Year of the City event, Burchfield-Penney Art Center is hosting a roundtable discussion with six people who have been instrumental in affecting positive change in some manner, in the fields of media, politics, development, energy and the environment.
Emcee: Mark Severson, dean of the School of Natural and Social Sciences and chair of the Year of the City committee
Facilitator: Susan McCartney, director of the Small Business Development Center at Buffalo State
“Buffalo State is committed to the city of Buffalo,” said Severson, “and that commitment has been demonstrated since the institution first opened its doors in 1871 on the city’s West Side. For this roundtable, we invited participants who have demonstrated a similar commitment. We are very grateful to our speakers for accepting our invitation. We look forward to hearing them discuss the future of the city that is Buffalo State’s home.”

· David A. Franczyk, member of the Buffalo Common Council representing the Fillmore District and a lecturer in the History and Social Studies Education Department
· Joseph Golombek, Jr., member of the Buffalo Common Council representing the North District and a lecturer in the History and Social Studies Education Department
· Jill Jedlicka, executive director of Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper
