In an exciting new twist to the developments taking place at Asbury Hall, Babeville has announce that it will be partnering with an Ithaca-based live music programming guru called Dan Smalls Presents (DSP). This is incredible news for music lovers in Buffalo, as DSP has the capability to bring to Buffalo some top notch music talent that is currently passing this city by. “We’re excited to partner with Dan and his growing company,” said Babeville president Scot Fisher. “We’ve watched their expansion and what they have been able to do in venues like the State Theatre in Ithaca, and the energy that they have brought to Central New York. We look forward to more of the same here, in Buffalo.”
Having a professional talent buyer such as DSP will help Babeville to procure national acts that the company is already working with, and that will expand the reach of talented musicians that will in turn play in Buffalo. “It’s an honor to be working with Scot and Ani [DiFranco] in Buffalo,” said Dan Smalls. “Not only have I been a long-time fan, but I have heard such great things about how incredible Babeville is. Our first show there this December with Sufjan Stevens confirmed the potential. We can’t go from zero to sixty here, but we plan to build a great niche play for the right artists who want superb acoustics in an intimate and just plain beautiful room–the same way we have built other venues around the state.”
This is great news for Babeville and Buffalo. Up until now, the venue has been somewhat underutilized for its live music potential. That’s all about the change with the news of this partnership.
