Starting today, and running every other Saturday morning (10am) this winter, Urban Roots is hosting a round table discussion that gives local green thumbs the ability to reflect on the past successes and failures, while anticipating the upcoming gardening season. The group is called Gardeners’ Give & Take, and is basically a number of gardening enthusiasts who get together in order to keep the growing seasons fresh in their minds year ’round. It’s a great way to meet fellow gardeners and discuss different topics, while sharing a cup of coffee in a warm and welcoming environment. After all, just because there’s snow on the ground, doesn’t mean that there’s not work to be done when preparing for The Garden Walk and The National Garden Festival. Beginners and experts welcome.
Then, on Saturday January 12 (10am), Urban Roots will be kicking off its Winter into Spring workshop series starting off with a lesson on composting basics. Each weekend, the community garden center hosts a different workshop in order to demonstrate gardening-related practices.
*The current schedule is below, but new workshops will be added in the coming weeks so stay posted. To register for a workshop, please stop in the store, call us at 716-362-8982, or email workshops@urbanroots.org. Space is limited so registration is required so that we can set up accordingly. Workshops are free and open to the public unless otherwise specified. Workshops will be held at Urban Roots Community Garden Center 428 Rhode Island Street, Buffalo 14213 unless otherwise stated.
