Buffalonians can get their first sights and tastes of the renovated Horsefeathers building tomorrow with the launch of the Winter Market, located at 346 Connecticut Street. As of now the building is very much remains a work in progress, yet enough is complete to finally open the doors of this storied building.
Karl Frizlen, president of The Frizlen Group, shares that “While the building will not be 100 percent complete for the opening on Saturday, we will unveil our new storefront, new floors and ceilings are being installed, and temporary heating units are in place. We are truly looking forward to bringing this new service to the community! Work is continuing at Horsefeathers, but we have several vendors under contact for the Winter Market and will open our doors to the public at 8 a.m. Saturday.”
The vendors you can expect to find setting up shop tomorrow will include: Arden Farm, Green Heron Growers, Chateau Buffalo, First Light Farm & Creamery, Biscotti for Everybotti, Spices & Mixes by Milly, Saltamontes Salsa, Avenue Boys Smokehouse, Fetch Dog Treats, and The Pasta Peddler. Furthermore, additional vendors will be added as the season, and project, progresses. Additionally, Martin Cooks will resume cooking breakfast and lunch items at the market next week, which many of you became familiar with at the Elmwood-Bidwell location over the summer. Chef/Owner Martin Danilowicz will also be setting up permanent residence in the building, opening up his first full-service restaurant by month’s end.
Once the project is complete, Horsefeathers will be the first and only local marketplace of its kind, housing several permanent and temporary food vendors on the first floor and basement levels. These vendors will serve to not only visually illustrate their methods of cooking and preparation, their products will also be available for sale. The other exciting component of the project, will be the 24 loft-style apartments taking up the upper four floors, breathing such vibrant new life into a building and neighborhood that really deserves to shine once again.
Winter Market hours are 8 am to noon on Saturdays; the marketplace will run through May 4, 2013, before giving way to the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market which reopens on May 11. Vendors interested in participating in the market can contact Diane at The Frizlen Group at 881-0046 or diane@frizlengroup.com for more information.
