Here’s an easy way to meet some interesting people, learn about a local housing cooperative, get some good food and beer, and help fix a building. On Thursday, Feb. 14th the Nickel City Housing Cooperative (NCHC) invites you to come out and show your love for all of the things that we love about Buffalo – especially its people, beer, food and architecture. If you’re not familiar with the housing cooperative NCHC, or its grand manor called Ol’ Wondermoth, then you can learn more here. If you already know about this great Buffalo asset, then you also know how important it is to support it. Also, check out Ol’ Wondermoth’s little brother, Plankton.
Throughout the year, NCHC promotes education and awareness of the need for cooperatives. In order for the group to function in the historic setting that they call home, they occasionally host fundraisers in order to complete repairs on the property. While much of the daily upkeep is performed by the home dwellers, there occasionally comes a time when expenses become a heavy lift, and that’s when the community chips in.
