Broadway Market’s Second Saturday Lecture Series

2013 marks the 125 Year Anniversary of the Broadway Market. That means that supporters of the market, including Buffalo Eastsiders Standing Together Community Association (B.E.S.T) and Friends of the Broadway Market District will be thinking of new ways to draw people to the historic destination throughout the year. One of those ways is to provide informational talks by local historians on the importance of the neighborhood, as it pertains to its people and the entrepreneurial spirit that helped to build the neighborhood.
The lecture series kicks off on  January 12th at noon in the Broadway Market with a presentation by David Franczyk, Fillmore District Councilmember, on the History of the Eastside of Buffalo

The February presentation will be on the History of Sattlers by Mike Rizzo – author of Nine Nine Eight – The Glory Days of Buffalo Shopping (lead image)

The March presentation will be on the History of Breweries in Buffalo and on the Eastside of Buffalo by Peter Jablonski

Your comment is great. It will take some additional planning, but is doable. The shuttle will be difficult to implement for a volunteer group, but is something to investigate.

This is a great concept, and a really interesting series.

You know what would be REALLY cool: if people could come to the Market for this talk, and then bookend with other activities at neighboring venues (Adam M. Library, Central Terminal, local churches, etc.) In other words, I would love to create a day of it.

It would be nice to see some joint programming in the B-F area...maybe even work up to shuttle that provides transport among the disparate sites.

I thought this was a silly idea until I saw who was speaking. Cool lineup for sure. Rizzo has done some great stuff and Jablonski is the coolest nerd you'll ever meet.
