Over the holidays we will be highlighting a number of members of Buffalo Society of Artists (BSA), so that you might support them by purchasing original works of art. Thanks to Paul Rybarczyk at BSA for helping me put these together. Visit the BSA website to learn more about the institution – one of the oldest continually operating arts organizations in the country. Next up on our list is artist Rita Argen Auerbach:
Rita Argen Auerbach is a nationally recognized artist represented in numerous museum, corporate, and private collections throughout the United States and abroad. Her award winning paintings have been included in competitions such as The Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors, The Pennsylvania National Watercolor Exhibition, Mid-Atlantic Watercolor Exhibition, and the Niagara Landscape Exhibition in Dortmund, Germany. A former high school art teacher, Auerbach has conducted travel/workshops in Costa Rica, France, Italy, and Spain. She was a longtime faculty member of the Chautauqua Institution Summer Studies Program and was selected as one of Buffalo State College’s Distinguished Alumnae in 2004. Auerbach’s work has been profiled in articles in American Artist Magazine and Watercolor Magazine and she is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Art.
“I am inspired by the way light transforms the world around me, whether the subject is architecture, landscape, or still life. This is an exciting phenomenon, which I attempt to communicate through my paintings. I work primarily in watercolor, an elusive and challenging medium. In spite of its technical difficulties, I am motivated by the many possibilities for manipulating the boundaries of fluid manifestations.”
Her new series “PRISMS” series evolves from recreating compositions into illusions visualized through mirrored or glass strips. The works are available this season in galleries at Indigo Art and Meridian West Gallery.
