It’s two hours and counting before Buffalo’s second annual SantaCon, an event that draws a slew of jolly old men dressed in red to Downtown Buffalo, begins to roll out. Registration is at noon at the Labatt Tent at the corner of Franklin and Chippewa. For a ten dollar registration fee, Santas embark upon a bar crawl that includes 67 West, Bottoms Up, Privato, Purple Monkey and Noir.
Each year participants bring a new toy as a donation for the Boys & Girls Club of Black Rock, and the registration fee gets them one free drink at each of the participating bars. Wristbands for free drinks are given out to Santas once they deliver a toy of suitable nature.
If you see the soggy Santas running around in the rain near Chippewa, give them a honk or a shout. Despite the wet weather conditions, SantaCon is still on… so if you registered to join in on the fun, the rest of the Santas are gearing up right now to tie one or two ribbons on! Look for the live music at the registration tent and a sea of red outside of 67 West.
If you missed the big red boat this year, be sure to bookmark the SantaCon Facebook site for next year.
