This morning a group of runners set out to Delaware Park’s Ring Road to participate in a makeshift NYC Marathon Solidarity Run in Delaware Park. It appears as if the 26.2 mile run has been in place even before NYC’s cancellation announcement. The effort is intended to allow runners who have been training for months a chance to compete against others, follow through with the race completion goals brought on by prior fundraising efforts, while raising money towards the relief effort in NYC – a few of the runners are donating the money that they would have spent while in NYC to help those in need of food and supplies. On another marathon front, a local doctor named Daniel Buscaglia arrived in NYC to run the race, and after seeing the devastation he decided that he would run to fulfill his own charitable goal, while encouraging Buffalonians to step up and donate to the Red Cross in Buffalo (for the relief effort in NYC). “When I saw the massive devastation, it became real that I needed to do something to help. So I am running for our neighbors in NYC. Let’s see what Buffalo can do to help. I am running to represent the people of Buffalo. I know the people in Buffalo are the most caring people in the world, so I am asking them to please make a donation to the Red Cross of Buffalo for the relief effort in NYC” said Dr. Buscaglia.
*Join Dr. Buscaglia in his run to help the relief efforts in NYC by donating to the Red Cross in Buffalo. Make sure you let them know it is for the “Run Dan, Run’, relief effort in NYC.
