This Black Friday, do your part to promote shopping locally. You know, supporting local businesses. Keeping your money in your neighborhood, and giving a boost to small businesses that in turn keep our commercial districts healthy and strong. That sort of thing…
For the second year in a row, the Elmwood Village is doing something a bit different, in order to entice shoppers to visit stores along the Elmwood strip.
On Friday, November 23, 2012, shoppers can participate in a Black Friday Boutique Crawl by stopping into any one of the following cafes to check-in for the crawl: Coffee Culture, Spot Coffee Elmwood, Dolci, Caffe Aroma, or Gelateria Luca (from 8am to 11am). At check-in, crawlers will be given boutique crawl punch cards and an Elmwood Village Map & Guide. From there it’s pretty simple. Head out to shop at the businesses on the street, get the cards punched, and wait to see who wins all of the gift certificates and gift baskets.
Apparently, after the boutique crawl was initiated (last year), shop owners reported that business was up by more than 60% on Black Friday. Now that’s pretty amazing.
That evening stick around for the holiday tree lighting and Holiday Gift Show at the corner of Elmwood and Lafayette (Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church).
