Sunday Soup by Sugar City and Buffalo Barn Raisers is a grassroots initiative like no other in the city. Where else can the community come together to slurp some soup, share ideas, and actually get something tangible accomplished? In essence, Sunday Soup is a potluck dinner, with a small pot of gold waiting for one lucky guest. Each time this event is held, people not only bring soup to the table, they also bring ideas about how to make the city a better place.
At the end of the meal, the ideas get voted on, and someone claims a monetary prize (donation money) that he or she can put toward making the winning idea a reality. At the last Sunday Soup, Clint Parker walked away with $600 to fund his Urban Forest and Education program. More important than the money, the concept is designed to bring the community together to discuss all sorts of ideas that may or may not happen. It’s a great way to get people talking and hash out the ideas. Here are all of the details:

Suggested Donation: $5 with a dish to pass -or- $10 without. (Please consider bringing your own plate, bowl, cup & utensils)

Have an idea that you want to get funded? Submit your idea to present at Sunday Soup! Sunday Soup grants provide funding for projects based on community engagement and public service. The ideal Sunday Soup project is something that uses your creativity to help make Buffalo a stronger community. Sunday soup is specifically designed for people or groups who are not an established not for profit, therefore not eligible for traditional grants.
Please send a short proposal outlining your idea to buffalosundaysoup@gmail.com and we will follow up with additional information. But be quick: the submission deadline is Monday November 11th at 10PM!
