Sometimes you need to look around Buffalo with somewhat of a discerning eye. After all, what might look like something old and forgotten may look like a glorious relic to someone else. At least that’s the case with Mod Betty at Retro Roadmap, who recently paid a visit to Buffalo, and in the process discovered a wealth of retro treasures, many of which are still in operation today. From a visit to Parkside Candies to chow at Lake Effect Diner, and plenty of retro signage to go around, when it comes to preserving some of our vintage past, we’ve done a fairly good job. A lot of what we take for granted appears to be yummy eye candy for others. Wouldn’t it be great to get some of the old classics, sitting around in shop yards (I’m thinking about the Streng Oldsmobile sign on Niagara Street, for example) back up on a few buildings?
From Mod Betty at Retro Roadmap:
Whew! What I thought was going to be a list of places for Retro Roadsis and her fam to check out in the Buffalo NY area somehow has ended up to be the most sprawling post ever for Retro Roadmap! We’ve got places I’ve been, places I saw but didn’t go to, places I found out about during research, and Retro Roadmap reader recommendations for places in Buffalo and beyond…
