Saving Cities is asking for your help to complete their feature length documentary film focusing on the American Rust Belt, titled ‘Red White and Blueprints‘. Saving Cities Describes themselves online as:
…an organization dedicated to using media as a tool to advance community development across the Rust Belt. Through the creation of positive, call-to-action content, we aim to inspire a new generation of leaders to take responsibility for our great region’s revitalization. By acting as a conduit of information throughout the region, we strive to integrate all parties and promote a positive rebirth.
…It is imperative for all of us to take action! This is not a request; this is something you HAVE to do. It is our responsibility as citizens of this great nation to adhere to the principals of democracy; to expand upon the foundation of the past, and to discover the true meaning of the New Frontier.
The film ‘Red White and Blueprints’ grew out of this mission. The movie is described as such on the organization’s web site:
A documentary film project that highlights several of the most innovative initiatives, individuals, and emerging ideas in the Rust Belt, and makes the case for why we still matter as a region. From St. Louis to Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo, & beyond; the sole intention of this film is to inform and inspire a new generation of leaders to take the vital actions necessary to revitalize our great region.
When we began this journey, we had no money, no gear, no contacts, and no idea where we might end up. Two years in, we’ve managed to raise enough funding to purchase our own gear, travel the Rust Belt region twice, collect over 100 hours of stunning footage, and get covered in several credible media outlets including The Atlantic Cities, GOOD Magazine, and Cleveland Magazine. All of this has been made possible with support we’ve received from like-minded, passionate individuals who share our belief that this hard working region still matters, and deserves to have its story told.
As we wrap up the production portion of our journey this spring, and move in to postproduction (i.e. editing, scoring, etc.), we feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to experience every single event that has taken place, story that has been told, and moment that has been shared. This has been a life altering adventure, and we are thrilled to be on the tail end of it so that we can begin to share it with all of you!

Saving Cities is currently raising money to complete the next phase of the film on Kickstarter, the website that helps small start-ups to start up by providing a fund raising portal on the web. You can donate as little as $1 or as much as you want. Saving Cities’ goal is only $4,500 of which they have already raised over 50% with the help of 41 backers. The project will only be funded if they reach the $4500 goal by May 16. Help out if you can. The trailer looks interesting…
