As e-waste gets more abundant, it’s even more important to make sure that we are recycling on a regular basis. If you’re into recycling and you also like to help the community, you’re in luck. There will be e-waste drop-off sites at Buffalo ReUse (April 21) and Green Options Buffalo (April 14). On those days, Sunnking will be donating partial proceeds to Camp Good Days and Special Times. The event is being called E-Scrap 4 Camp because the electronics collected on those days will help to fund programming for Camp Good Days – a camp that has helped thousands of cancer patients to take their minds off their illness.
For no fee, businesses and individuals will be able to drop off their broken and outdated e-junk. State regulations now mandate that electronics can not be thrown out in the garbage*. In order to bring in additional e-waste, Sunnking is asking that employers get into the action by helping to collect outdated and broken computers, cell phones, copiers, etc. from offices and employees. The collected materials can then be arranged for pick-up. A recent email stated that last year during the event “Sunnking recycled 251,021 lbs. of electronics with the help of over 60 participating businesses in the Buffalo, NY area, and as a result $8,030.63 was donated to Camp Good Days to fund future programs and send children with cancer to summer camp.”
