Each year, the annual Dyngus Day Party at the Buffalo Central Terminal is the largest celebration within the city, attracting over 10,000 party guests. This year’s party will include a contemporary twist on the traditional celebration, featuring the world’s first ever “polka rock concert” with music by the band “Those Idiots.”
The band will be starting off their show with two sets of traditional polkas at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Their last set, “The Polka Meltdown,” will start at 8:30 p.m. and will consist of 2 hours of continuous rock-polka fusion.
“We are taking our unique style of rock-n-roll Polka to new heights,” said bandleader Myron Deputat. “No expense has been spared. There will be a 16′ wide video screen above the stage to let more people participate in our crazy antics. The show will include a full light display, complete with lasers and foggers. I guarantee this will be the largest and greatest Those Idiots Dyngus Day performance in history.”
The Central Terminal will open up the festivities at 3 p.m. today. The first musical performance will take place at 4:30 p.m. with music by Hocus Polka. There will also be plenty of authentic Polish food, beer and vodka. Purchasing a “Pussy Willow Pass” for $10 will allow access to the Central Terminal party and will also include discounts on admission to other official Dyngus Day Buffalo locations.
This year’s celebration is expected to draw in over 100,000 participants to take part in the post-Lenten fun.
