Where are you from originally?
Buffalo
What is your medium?
Photography
How has Buffalo influenced your work?
I grew up here in WNY and saw much of it through my grandfathers camera and that was a very big influence
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Everything & everybody
What is your preferred subject matter?
I’m an adrenaline junky so when I have the chance to be in the middle of something and show off the surroundings, whether it’s nature or man made I get excited. Primarily nature and architecture and blending them together. I have also been creating virtual immersive images since 1995 and really enjoy allowing people to see things a little bit differently than they may be used to. I love shooting live music and have done that for over 33 years. Lastly, I have been working with the pediatric cancer groups in the area for the last 20 years documenting the kids and it brings me great pleasure working with them and making enduring images for the families.
How do you feel you can best advance to the next level, or are you most happy where you are now?
Curiosity didn’t kill the cat, complacency did, never done, never satisfied. I keep positioning myself for the next adventure and opportunity to push the envelope, doing good work and building great relationships which often lead to new ones.
What is another medium that you would like to learn? Or that you have already learned?
I would love to learn how to work with glass.
Is there a purpose to your artwork?
I’m always pushing on new ideas and ways to show people what they commonly miss, sometimes it’s in the details and other times it’s a much broader stroke.
I have also been creating virtual panoramic immersive images since 1995 and really enjoy allowing people to see things a little bit differently than they may be used to, I like making people think about what they are looking at
How often do you work on your art?
Always, it never shuts off, I keep a notebook with me at all times to jot down thoughts and ideas, places and angles. So far I haven’t been able to find the “Off” button.
What or who first prompted you to venture into the art world?
My grandfather on my mother’s side and my non-blood Uncle Kenn Duncan, he was a NYC based studio – fashion – dance photographer.
Have you been schooled in art? Are you planning on attending art school? If so, where?
No schooling, self taught
Where is your favorite venue in Buffalo to exhibit?
It’s been awhile, following a string of singular shows a bunch of years ago, it’s been about 8 years or so since my last, but there is a lot of great space out there.
Where is your current/next show in the city? Dates? Opening night?
I was invited this year to contribute a piece for the CEPA Auction and have a piece hanging in that show. (CEPA auction is tonight – learn details.

Steve Jobs – Biography
What’s your favorite movie?
2001 A Space Odyssey
What’s your favorite restaurant in Buffalo?
Encore or wherever chef Chris Daigler is, preferably on my grill or somewhere close!
What’s the best thing about being an artist?
The look on people’s faces when an image touches them, whether it’s shock or pleasure.
What’s the worst thing about being an artist?
Haven’t found that place yet.
What are your strengths?
My ability to adapt to situations quickly.
What are your weaknesses?
I have a hard time saying no.
Who would you most like to sell a work of art to?
That’s kind of hard now, since he recently passed away, but it would have been Steve Jobs
