According to multiple reports from USA Today, TSN and The Hockey News, the Sabres have traded Paul Gaustad and a fourth round draft pick to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a first round draft pick.
Guastad, who has played with the Sabres since the 2005-06 season, has racked up 71 goals in 479 NHL games. The centerman had 585 penalty minutes in his career with Buffalo. He was top 10 in the league in face-off percentage for the past 3 seasons.
To his credit, Gaustad was well-liked in the community. He lived in the City and was frequently spotted in and around the Elmwood Village.
At the end of his term in Buffalo, though, Gaustad may be best remembered for what he didn’t do than what he did. He was the ‘toughest guy’ on the ice when Bruins tough guy Milan Lucic ran Sabres goalie Ryan Miller in the open ice and Gaustad, like the rest of the Sabres, responded with nothing.
Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
