The National Trust for Historic Preservation is coming back to Buffalo with a bag of cash for one local historic preservation organization and the public can help choose who gets it. The bag will be filled with a $10,000 grant for one of 4 projects selected for a an online voting competition.
You can vote once and only once for your favorite preservation project at the Buffalo Challenge Facebook Page. If you are not a FB member, sign up – it’s fast and easy. Voting began at 8:00am ET today – Monday, December 12, and will end at 11:59pm ET on Sunday, December 18th. Also, the Trust is asking us all a favor, that we spread the word about the contest via Twitter and Facebook etc. The four competing sites are:
The Trust describes their conference in Buffalo as one of the most successful ever. From the Trust press release:
“All of us at the National Trust have warm memories of our time in Buffalo, and we are thrilled to be coming back so soon to give a gift to one of Buffalo’s unique historic sites, just in time for the holidays,” said Stephanie Meeks, president of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. “We were inspired by the many local residents who are passionate about preserving Buffalo’s outstanding historic places. ‘Buffalo Challenge’ will allow the Queen City to, once again, rally around preservation by voting for the most deserving historic place.”
