Waterfront activist Mark Goldman reached out to me this morning, asking that we share the following video called Imagining Buffalo’s Waterfront. The video is an explanation of the process that led to the Aspirations and Inspirations event that recently took place at City Honors. From the presentation at the Parkside Lodge to the three art installations that were commissioned for the conference, the idea that the waterfront should be open to interpretation is important.
Walk through the land of the grain silos with Tony Goldman (Mark’s brother) and listen to his creative visions of the industrial site. Many of the visions are unique, but there are others that have been weighed and measured for years without the proper resources to carry out the endeavors. Are these our future heritage sites? Remember – Lighter, Quicker, Cheaper. Mark stresses the importance of developing the Inner, Outer and Middle harbors in conjunction with one another. There are initiatives that could, and should, roll out as early as this summer… if more voices are heard regarding the future of our waterfront.
