Chef’s Restaurant’s expansion is wrapping up as work is starting on an addition to the Buffalo Transportation Pierce-Arrow Museum. Construction on the $1.5 million Chef’s project started in September and is expected to be completed in early December.
The 1,700 sq.ft. addition will add a bar area, a small retail shop and a new dining room that can be used for private parties. A drive-thru takeout window is located along the Chicago Street side of the building.
A few blocks away, the Buffalo Transportation Pierce-Arrow Museum has broken ground on a 35,000 sq.ft. addition. The expansion will include additional exhibit space and an atrium that will house a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed filling station. Lauer-Manguso & Associates is project architect.
Work on the $6.3 million expansion will be completed in time for the National Preservation Conference next fall. Attendance at the museum now at 10,000 visitors per year is expected to grow to over 40,000.
A timeline has not been set for the third phase that will add an additional 15,000 to 18,000 sq.ft. of space including a movie theater and library.
Both projects are located midway between downtown and the Larkin District.
