How to
Behave So Your Preschooler Will, Too! by Sal
Severe is an
excellent resource and reference for parents wanting to correct or improve
their young child’s behavior. Severe is a leading child-care expert who has
written several parenting books. This particular title is geared towards
parents with children between the ages of three and six. It is different than
many other parenting books in that its focus is on changing the parent’s
behavior, not the child’s wrongdoings.
Practical
and positive suggestions, tips and strategies are given throughout the book to
give parents the confidence they need to be more consistent, calm and patient
when their child misbehaves. Severe believes parents need to focus on the
positive and what they as parents can do right instead of putting emphasis on
what their child is doing wrong.
Often
misbehavior in a young child is due to the fact that the child has not yet
learned appropriate ways to get what he wants. Severe discusses how to use
rewards, consequences and guidance to help develop more positive behaviors and
attitudes in your children.
As a
parent, reading what Severe has to say will not be easy. It is difficult to have
to think about what we as parents may be doing incorrectly to contribute to a
cycle of misbehavior in our children. However, the result can be less stress,
less negativity and a happier and improved relationship with your children.
