Effective
yesterday, October 19th, Michael Gainer was offered, and has accepted, the
position of program director for Buffalo ReUse, the not-for-profit agency he
founded.
The
responsibilities of the position were agreed on by the board of directors, and
are as follows:
-Provide
monthly deconstruction and salvage report, and program status. This is to
include what jobs have been completed, in-progress, signed and prospects. All
jobs discussed are to include estimated costs and revenue expected.
-Direct
field operations for deconstruction and salvage activities.
-Coordinate
subcontracted services, such as utility cuts, asbestos surveys, abatements,
excavators and other as needed.
-Follow up
on job leads, responsible for job estimates and providing estimates for
financial review prior to contract execution.
-Direct
staff training of deconstruction and salvage activities.
-Coordinate
safety and environmental compliance training for staff members.
-Pursue
funding opportunities.
-Instrumental
in strategic development and implementation of existing and future community
programs.
-Member of
the Strategic Community Development Committee.
This decision ends what may have been
two of the toughest months in Gainer’s career, when he was fired from his job as
ReUse COO, after having been replaced as CEO months earlier. Gainer has a new
board in place, with the exception of Michelle Johnson, who has been with ReUse
since its inception. New board President Vince Kuntz is said to have
offered Gainer the position in a private conference.
