Peace activist Kathy Kelly will be your keynote speaker. As a peace activist, Kathy Kelly has been, well, militant. She has repeatedly ignored UN/US sanctions by bringing medicine to Iraqi families in need. Since 1996, she has been to Iraq 24 times, and was in Baghdad during the US “Shock and Awe” bombing in 2003.
She has been in several prisons in the US for her role in various peaceful demonstrations, and to this day,
Kelly and her organization Voices in the Wilderness owe the US
government a fine of $20,000, which they refuse to pay on grounds that they’ve done no wrong.
A vegetarian dinner will be served at 7 PM, preceded by a cash bar from 6 PM – 7 PM. Entertainment will be provided by Carrie Morrison (as Sarah Palin), and music will be provided by the Jean Paul Jeremy Accordion Quartet.
