For the past few years we’ve been forced to deal with “the Bills moving to Toronto” rumors, which are frightening enough. One set of moving rumors is plenty. Then there’s a rumor that the Bills are on a list of teams that could possibly be moving to LA. Thanks, I’m full.
And then there’s this interview with billionaire Ed Roski, CEO of Majestic Realty, where he actually says things like “There are NFL franchises out there that want a world-class facility, that want this huge market, and I’m ready to give them that.” Perhaps that’s true, but that statement has that crazy cat-lady “my 300 kitties are happy here” ring to it.
(THIS guy wants your team.)
Roski, who was a major player in the development and creation of LA’s Staples Center, wants to build the new NFL facility for use by 2013, for a pricetag of $800 million–none of which with taxpayer dollars–with 75,000 seats. He just needs a commitment from an NFL team, and it will be “full-steam ahead.” Until the stadium is done, the moving team will play at the Rose Bowl.
There are also rumors that the NFL already knows which team is moving, but has kept quiet on it.
With Ralph Wilson’s age and already persistent moving rumors, this just makes things scarier.
You can have a team, LA, just not ours.
