Just had to throw this one out there. In the midst of a post about living in the city that turned into a huge discussion of school districts, education and teachers, I would say that we have something other people want.
How about northeastern standards of educating teachers? A friend sent me these pictures of yesterday’s and today’s Teacher Recruitment Event at the Convention Center. Hundreds of school districts from around the country participate, meeting and interviewing college graduates who are looking for teaching positions.
Paul Murphy Executive Director at Buffalo Niagara Convention Center said many of them hire on the spot, offering signing bonuses to get quality candidates. Imagine being a young teacher fresh out of college and being able to walk around the room, talking to prospective employers with opportunities in virtually every state.

Under the Q and A tab: Career counselors from ten local colleges and universities make up the membership of the Western New York Association of College Career Centers (WNYACCC), which sponsors TRD. The members of WNYACCC spend an entire year and hundreds of hours planning all aspects of this event.
The real question is: How do we retain our best and brightest?
