Kepa3 Gallery will hold a silent auction tonight from 6-9PM at its location on 31 Barker Street. The show is a collection of winter city landscapes from local artist Peter Fowler. Inspired by and painted this past season, the paintings are a collection of oil-on-canvas and consist of city scenes in and around Buffalo.
The centerpiece of the show is a work entitled “Snow on the Gold Dome.” Painting mainly in deep yellows, soft whites and rich grays and browns, these textured paintings capture the essence of the Queen City throughout the winter months.
“Paintings depict various winter daily activities around the city,” says Fowler. A working snowplow in the entertainment district and the Saint Louis Cathedral on Main Street, a reoccurring theme scattered throughout various paintings, are examples of the images that can be found captured with his paintbrush.
Fowler has been painting for more than 20 years, and his works are housed in many private and corporate collections, both national and international. Many of his paintings feature abstract images of people, splattered with vibrant colors. After spending more than a decade in Spain exploring the arts, Fowler made his way to Buffalo where he founded the Kepa3 Gallery in 2001, originally located on Allen Street.
Fowler’s works are also available for viewing during the gallery’s regular hours, Tuesday and Friday 11AM-5PM, Wednesday and Thursday 11AM-3PM, and Saturday 11AM-4PM.
If you can’t attend the silent auction, bids will be accepted by phone. The auction ends at 9PM sharp. For further information, visit www.kepa3gallery.com
