There is a theory that promotes the idea that cold weather makes a heart grow fonder. One piece of evidence that could be offered up in support of this theory is the popular Buffalo Zoo fundraiser, Polar Bites.
Polar Bites takes place later this week, a chance to emerge from your wintertime den and join the festivities in support of the Buffalo Zoo. Taking place at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center on February 21st from 6-9PM, party goers will have the chance to sample culinary delights, delicious desserts, and beer and wine from 35 local and regional vendors. Selections include tasty treats like gumbo, tenderloin crostini, sweet potato ravioli, Turkish turkey meatloaf, chicken wing soup and margarita pizza. If some of these savory bites don’t tempt you, desserts such as chocolate crème brulee, a dark chocolate fountain with sundry dippers, bread pudding and mini carrot cakes certainly will.
Treat yourself and your winter skin by taking advantage of the local spas that will be on hand providing paraffin hand treatments, chair massages and head massages. Animal ambassadors will make appearances throughout the evening and both a basket auction and a silent auction will be held.
Polar Bites is an event for those 21 and over. Tickets can be purchased prior to the event for $30 by calling 995.6131 or visiting www.buffalozoo.org. Tickets will also be available at the door for $40.
A limited number of VIP tickets (by phone only) for $50, come with early admission and a goodie bag.
