Liebeskind spent much of his early career in the academic realm of architecture. He was well know for his beautiful and complex drawings but until his ground breaking Jewish Museum in Berlin was completed his built work was virtually non existent. This building propelled him onto the world stage with major commissions across the globe. He gained tremendous notoriety as winner of the World Trade Center Master Plan Competition. After many alterations to his plan, constant controversy, and much infighting between competing parties Liebeskind withdrew from major responsibilities on the project. Since then he has gone on to complete many projects including the wild Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, a crystal like addition which appears to be consuming the older wing.
The School of Architecture and Planning along with The Albright Knox have brought Liebskind to Buffalo in conjunction with the ongoing “Drawing Architecture ” exhibit ( also at the Albright Knox). Mr. Libeskind will present ideas and discuss his experiences in drawing, architecture and building world-class skylines. This event will be very much worth your time.
