The University of Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning kicks off its fall lecture series Wednesday September 6th. Over the last few years the school has consistently fielded a stellar lineup of speakers consisting of the top design thinkers in the world. This season is no exception. First up is Office dA, a Boston-based architecture and design firm led since 1991 by principal partners Monica Ponce de Leon and Nader Tehrani.
The firmis work ranges in scale from furniture to urban design and infrastructure. Their work investigates the potentials of materials and construction techniques, often imported from fields outside of architecture, using unique material qualities in conjunction with traditional and digital techniques of design and assembly. Office dA has a portfolio of projects around the world n from Boston to Caracas to Beijing, which uniquely marry local craft and tradition to global and contemporary techniques.
A reminder: All school of Architecture lectures are held on the South Campus conveniently located just steps from the South Campus Metrorail station.
