With all of the latest conversations taking place as to what Buffalo will ever do with the parking-lot sprawl dilemma, I was excited to hear that Goodyear Tire was taking full advantage of the city’s excess asphalt. About 45 minutes before the Frank Lloyd Boathouse groundbreaking ceremony this morning, I received an urgent phone call. Someone on the other end of the line was telling me to get down to the Cobblestone District STAT. So I hurried down to see for myself what was going on.
It turns out that Goodyear Tire had set up a small obstacle course along Mississippi Street in order to test out their new tires. They had a Goodyear tent set up, along with hoses to water down sections of the track in order to test out rain conditions. Every couple of minutes a car would come screeching around a corner before zooming past a few interested onlookers (mostly neighboring plant workers). This is the second year in a row that the Goodyear team has set up the test track in the Cobblestone District… it’s too bad that they don’t let the public know about it in advance as it might be a great promotion for their tires.

Sometimes the authors at Buffalo Rising work on collaborative efforts in order to cover various events and stories. These posts can not be attributed to one single author, as it is a combined effort. Often times a formation of a post gets started by one writer and passed along to one or more writers before completion. At times there are author attributions at the end of one of these posts. Other times, “Buffalo Rising” is simply offered up as the creator of the article. In either case, the writing is original to Buffalo Rising.
