Party for the Parks 2006 will transform the grounds of the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society into Buffalois best end-of-the-summer party! On Friday, September 8 from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m., guests will enjoy live music, food samples and beverages in celebration of our regionis great Olmsted Park System.
Party for the Parks, now in its fourth year, will take place at the History Museum situated in Delaware Park, the first of six parks, eight parkways and connecting circles and smaller spaces that were designed by Americais first landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted in the late 1800s as part of the nationis first system of parks and parkways. Party for the Parks features live entertainment from two of Buffalois most popular musical gems, The Ifs and Lance Diamond. The bands will perform behind the Historical Museum overlooking one of the most majestic scenes in Buffalo – Mirror Lake, the Japanese Gardens, Hoyt Lake, Delaware Park and the Albright Knox Art Gallery. Great food, live music, basket and silent auctions will make Party for the Parks a memorable evening for the over-21 crowd!
The Party for the Parks basket auction will be filled with many exciting items including overnight stays, clothing, and gift certificates. A silent auction will feature even more unique and interesting prizes such as original artwork, golf season passes and trips.
Through Party for the Parks, the Conservancy hopes to bring Western New York together in the park for a fun and entertaining evening, while raising awareness about the Conservancyis mission to enhance, restore and maintain the 1200-acre Buffalo Olmsted Park and Parkway System.
Olmsted Parks Conservancy trustee, Jayne Attardo, is chair of the event. Julie Thompson and Herb Siegel, also Olmsted trustees, are co-chairs. Committee members are Brandon Chase, Karen Dombrowski, Kim Ferullo, Laura Genco, John Gollier, Johnathan Holifield, Renee Kasianowicz, Barrie Koehler, Alan Pawlowski and Mary Lou Rutkowski.
