Bruce Northam had a big Buffalo day yesterday. His excursion on the Cotter fireboat was a huge success partially due to Captain Mike Higgins allowing Bruce to jump into the boat’s elevating water bucket. With a push of the button Bruce was soon towering over the boat while water from the cannon shot into the air before him. This was an unexpected surprise and delighted the writer, who could not believe his good fortune. As the water cannons erupted, a brilliant rainbow was cast over the cityscape. Bruce exclaimed that the view from a high could not be beat and the entire experience was totally awesome. This was the perfect way to wrap up an already successful 18 hour stay in the Queen City on the Lake. Big hat tip to the crew of the Cotter and the CVB for organizing the day’s activities.
Media outlets on the East Coast have already started picking up on Bruce and Scott’s statewide trek. WCAX – Burlington, VT is running a newscast about the two biking through Buffalo and sailing on Lake Erie. I am sure that by the end of their travels just about every media source in the State of NY will also pick up on the story. Scott Flaherty, the I Love NY media coordinator, did an great job attracting local media to the day’s events and will surely continue to promote the journey upon their arrival to future destinations.
