Bring the family, bring your sunscreen and celebrate the 10th year of walks to benefit Hospice! Sunday, May 21, 2006 is the perfect day for friends, family and loved ones to tour Buffalois scenic waterfront and historic downtown. This year, Mayor Byron Brown is honorary chair of this special event.
The 3-mile walk will begin at Erie Basin Marina at 11:00 a.m. and proceed through Buffalois historic waterfront district. A one-mile shortened version of the Walk has been mapped out for people with wheelchairs and baby strollers. Afterwards, Wegmans invites walkers to a picnic with games, prizes, face painting, a bounce house, sports team mascots and prizes! This year, Hospice Foundation gives all walkers a special illustrated map of the historic Walk route.
For more information/to register, call the Hospice Foundation at (716) 686-8090. All walkers age 13 and over must register and raise a minimum of $20 by May 10. After May 10, the minimum is $25. Stop by Hospice at 225 Como Park Boulevard, Cheektowaga, NY on May 10 to register and receive special gifts and get a chance to win prizes.
Proceeds from the Hospice Memorial Walk benefit the Hospice Foundation, supporting Hospice Buffalo, Essential Care for Children, Home Care Buffalo, CMI Education Institute, Caring Hearts Home Care, and the Life Transitions Center. Together, these agencies comprise The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, serving individuals with serious illness, and their families and caregivers through a continuum of care spanning the course of illness and bereavement.
