University at Buffalois Student Association is pleased to present the 2nd Annual Battle of the Bands featuring Shinedown and five local bands.
Bigger and better than last year, the competition will come to a close with a live performance by Shinedown (photo), fresh off of their Sno Core Tour. The melodic hard rockers, hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, debuted in 2003 with their album Leave a Whisper (Atlantic Records). On tour for most of 2004, the band released a live album later on in the year. Their sophomore album Us and Them (Atlantic Records) in October of 2005, featured the single iSave Me,i which reached #1 on Billboard Modern Rock Chart.
Competing for a wide range of prizes, including an opportunity to open at UBis Springfest, are local bands Depot, Kill One to Warn a Hundred, Floozie, Kick Williams and On That Note. Varying in genre, the rock-based bands showcased at Battle of the Bands represent the talent at the University at Buffalo. Bands were selected by entry and under the condition that at least one band member is a current UB student.
