Special Events Manager n Evening & Weekend Operations
Position Summary:
~Leads evening/weekend crew in performing horticultural and operational duties.
~Work includes manual labor and use of hand and power tools and equipment.
~Works independently, reporting to Director of Park Management and Operations.
~Executes job duties in all weather conditions.
~Serves as a role model to others in terms of work ethic, work performance, and Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy policies.
~Works schedule requires evening and weekend hours; some holidays.
Position Responsibilities:
~Leads evening/weekend crew in all maintenance tasks including: clean and maintain all public areas, comfort stations, facilities and immediate surroundings before and after closing.
~Leads section crew in other general maintenance tasks during evening and weekend hours. Carries out such duties as well.
~Observes and inspects park events; works cooperatively with event organizers to ensure the park landscape is protected.
~Assists with administrative duties as required.
~Drives vehicle in accordance with acceptable safety standards; ensures that the vehicleis operational condition is sound.
~Trains and leads all seasonal staff in various park maintenance tasks.
~Properly uses and maintains all outdoor power equipment and vehicles.
~Develop inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; recommend purchases to Director of Park Management and Operations; submits requisitions for replacement of and new equipment.
~Performs other duties as required.
Position Requirements:
~New York State Driveris License.
~Bacheloris degree in parks management, horticulture or related field.
~Experience in Special Event Management.
~Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
~Minimum 2-3 years of park management experience.
~Ability to perform heavy, physical labor on a daily basis.
~Experience with outdoor power equipment.
~Effective oral and written communication skills.
~CDL and/or pesticide license(s) a plus.

Golf Course Starter
Sell golf permits and merchandise; check permits at tees; clean and maintain public facilities; assist with management reports. Excellent customer service skills and knowledge of golf required. Must be available for weekends and evenings. 16-32 hours per week.
Golf Course Ranger
Patrol golf courses and enforce course rules; speed up slow play; perform minor maintenance on courses; maintain equipment; check permits at tees; assist golfers. Manager
Schedule starters and rangers; order supplies; enforce course rules; schedule tournaments & outings; schedule league play; responsible for minor building maintenance; reconciliation of dayis revenues; prepare management reports; supervises other personnel & assists in training and hiring. Grounds Technician – Seasonal
Position Summary:
~Performs basic maintenance and operations tasks under moderate supervision and/or independently;
~Reports to Park Operations Supervisor;
~Executes tasks in all weather conditions;
~Works a varied schedule and is available for weekends & some holidays.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Performs maintenance tasks including, but not limited to:
~Refuse/trash removal
~Snow and ice removal
~Drain cleaning
~Leaf raking and sweeping
~Wood chip dispersal
~Painting and repair of variety of items (benches, etc.)
~Installation and repair of fencing
2. Operates supplied equipment/vehicles to execute the above tasks in a proper and safe manner;
3. Interacts with park patrons in a professional manner including providing accurate and pertinent information regarding park landmarks and events;
4. Performs other duties as required.
Positions Requirements:
~Ability to work a varied schedule with overtime including weekends, holidays and evenings;
~Ability to perform heavy, physical labor on a daily basis;
~Experience with outdoor power equipment such as lawn mowers, weed-eaters, leaf blowers;

Zone Gardener
Position Summary:
The Zone Gardener serves as a skilled field laborer in landscape maintenance. Under the direction of the Section Supervisor, the Zone Gardener performs all horticulture and maintenance tasks as assigned to them in their area. Daily responsibilities will include manual labor, use of hand and power tools and equipment and vehicles. Zone Gardeners may be assigned occasionally to another zone based on the needs of the Park.
Position Responsibilities:
~General landscape, Park and horticultural maintenance; including:
~Debris removal
~Maintain garbage receptacles
~Lawn-mowing, weed whacking
~Snow shoveling, raking leaves
~Planting, deep-root & soil fertilization, moisture monitoring and irrigation
~Special events set-up & clean-up
~Supervise and train seasonal personnel in various horticultural tasks; and
~Be able to properly and safely use supplied equipment to execute all tasks;
Position Requirements:
~2+ years horticultural experience or a degree in horticulture or related field;

~Be able to work closely with other staff members and interact extensively with the public;
~The ability to perform heavy physical labor- ability to lift 50+ pounds or more;

Turf Maintenance Technician – Seasonal
Position Summary:
~Under the direct supervision of the Turf Care Supervisor, the Turf Maintenance Technician works as a crew member on turf maintenance projects as needed;
~Executes tasks in all weather conditions;
~Works a varied schedule, including holidays and weekends.
Position Responsibilities:
~Performs all turf maintenance and operations tasks, including landscape maintenance, under moderate supervision and/or independently.
~Groom ball fields;
~Irrigation of ball fields;
~Interface with park patrons and permit holders, make sure rules are being followed appropriately;
~General park maintenance (including trash pickup);
~Horticultural maintenance (planting, fertilization, moisture monitoring and irrigation, etc.);
~Supervise and train personnel in various horticultural tasks, coordinate volunteer projects as needed;
~Be able to properly and safely use supplied equipment to execute all tasks;
~Keep inventory of all equipment assigned to the section;
~Snow and ice removal;
~Drive vehicles and operate other motorized equipment (tractor, riding mower, aerator, dethatcher, etc.).
Position Requirements:
~2-3 years horticultural experience or a degree in horticulture or related field;
~Be highly motivated;
~Be able to work closely with other staff members and interact extensively with the public;
~The ability to perform heavy physical on a daily basis;
~Knowledge of hand held power tools;
~Training and licensing of operation of larger equipment and vehicles are required;
~A NYS driveris license is essential;
~Pesticide applicator license a plus;
~Must be available to work a rotational/flexible schedule changing with seasonal and special events demands, Saturdays and Sundays are a must.
