iBeats the hell out of collecting stamps, i says Tim Herzog, Flying Bison founder and Brewmaster. Beer lovers canit help but be both grateful and intrigued by the delicious variety of homebrews Flying Bison produces right here in Buffalo.
This past Saturday the brewery was absolutely aflight with visitors. People came for growlers, tours, beer wit and wisdom, and for the simple pleasure of a visit. Everyone tasted, and everyone enjoyed. Thoroughly. At one point Tim said jokingly, iOur quality control department in huge n everyone wants to make sure itis all right, a couple times.i
A few people, myself among them, came to attend iFlight School,i a monthly Saturday event where Tim demonstrates, with some volunteer participation, an entire session of brewing beer with his first homebrew system for fun and for free. Our experience came complete with Scotch Ale, the occasional Scottish accent, and stories galore.
Also on Saturday we had the privilege of hanging with members of the 914th Airlift Wing, stationed at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. The Brewery and the Air Force team share a name, the Flying Bisons, and so have developed a special friendship. Tim even created a special beer for them called Herc Strong Ale. The group came directly to Flying Bison upon their return from Iraq and presented Tim with a badge and Air Force-style bag to show their appreciation.
