Oneal was this year’s first fatality in the City of Buffalo. He was stuck and killed by a drunk driver while riding his bike at Pearl and West Mohawk Streets. The Buffalo biking community will be honoring the memory of Oneal this Sunday by participating in a memorial ride regarless of weather conditions.
The ride will begin at 9am at the corner of West Mohawk and Pearl, and the riders will make their way over to the steps of City Hall and back, all the while maintaining complete silence. The bikers will then gather to hear various words that will be spoken to honor his memory.
If you are interested in joining this group of people on Sunday, there are a couple websites that have all of the pertinent information regarding the details. Buffalo Bikes has layed out information including maps, and Bike Blog has the short history of this tragic event leading up to Sunday’s ride.
Thanks to all of the organizers who are lending a hand in Sunday’s Memorial Bike Ride.
