Rikki Ducornet is a writer fascinated by the ways the concrete and illusory can be interwoven. …she manages to create her own cabinet of marvels as she infects her readers with the sweet venom of language.
–Bart Schneider
Ducornet is the author of seven novels, including The Stain, Entering Fire, The Fountains of Neptune, Phosphor in Dreamland, The Fan Maker’s Inquisition, a Los Angeles Times Book of the Year, and The Jade Cabinet, runner-up for The National Book Critics’ Circle Award. In 2005 she received the Lannan Literary Award for Fiction. Her most recent novel, Gazelle, originally published in hard cover by Knopf, is now out in paperback from Anchor.
She speaks of writing as waking hallucination and fiction as a species of magic. And tonight she’s in Buffalo reading at Trinity Episcopal Church. The event is presented by Exhibit X–a co-presentation of Hallwalls and the UB English Dept., which funds this free ongoing series as a public service of UB.
Ducornet will be introduced by Christina Milletti.
