architect david sutton joins fellow buffalonians kevin grupp, dave grupp & bob moll for a quick picture. the group is putting the finishing touches on what i am sure is going to be an extra cool place to enjoy some very reasonably priced fresh-mex food or catch a game and indulge in a killer margarita. salsarita’s fresh cantina, 110 west chippewa (at the base of the hampton inn), is due to open this thursday, november 10th at 11 a.m.
i had the opportunity to check out salsarita’s yesterday and the moment i walked in i had a smile on my face. the space has a vibrant feel, hip furniture, wicked margarita bar and overall happy energy. the first thing that popped in my head upon entering was …happy-hour baby! salsarita’s promises to be much more than another watering hole on the chippewa scene. co-owners kevin grupp and bob moll can not wait until their customers taste the freshness of the fresh-mex menue. the duo, along with general manager dave grupp, plan on a good percentage of their earnings coming from catering and corporate lunches. salsarita’s has such an inviting feel, i could definitely see myself planting myself at the margarita bar and checking out a sabres or bills game.
salsarita’s is a charlotte based chain restaurant, but being on chippewa, co-owned by buffalonians, and designed by a buffalo architect (dean sutton architects are responsible for countless buffalo projects including: chophouse, laughlin’s, brownstone seafood house, linwood church of christ and 60 new homes [in the city of buffalo] currently under construction) i really just don’t get that feel. “i really love the energy and what’s happening in the city these days”, exclaimed co-owner bob moll. kevin and bob chose buffalo and the chippewa location to be the flagship restaurant and plan on opening other salsarita’s in the area (including north buffalo).
my sixth sense says salsarita’s is going to do extremely well. i really can’t wait!
