We have just been informed that there is a renegade troop of gardeners who have been sprucing up gardens throughout the city under the cover of night. There is no need to be alarmed. These covert green thumbs have taken it upon themselves to beautify neglected city streets.
City of Buffalo Guerilla Gardeners (CBGG) is a small independent (and so far anonymous) group of folks with an interest in beautifying Buffalo by planting flowers in the dark of night in any available spot that looks needy. They first planted chrysanthemums in planters on Washington Street between Mohawk and Huron. Where will they strike next? No one knows, but keep a look out next spring.
Note: You can give us your location suggestions by commenting on this blog entry. -CBGG
Side note: The sign in the photo reads, “Water Me Please! Brought to you by your friendly neighborhood Guerilla Gardeners.” Apparently, the only thing CBGG asks in return is to care for the newly planted additions. This is such a cool project. Way to go CBGG.
